New updates from the Parks & Recreation Department and MOCAP increase transparency and make it easier for you to make the most of city parks in Cleveland:

No Paper Permits:

Park shelter, picnic, and one-time outdoor sports field / court reservations are now digital! Use the Park Action Guide if you need help navigating.

💡Grassroots Funding Spotlight💡

NeighborUp Action Grants

Due Monday, August 31st @ 11:59pm

You and at least two other people (who aren’t related) apply for up to $5,000 for a project or program that would make a positive difference for people in your Cleveland or East Cleveland neighborhood. Project categories are: Arts & Culture, Neighboring, and Seniors/ Intergenerational.

You must attend a Grantseeker Workshop to apply. More info here.

Live or work in Ward 8? Neighborhood Connections has a special grant program to fund grassroots projects in Ward 8. Learn more here.

Small Ponds Charity

Open now, rolling submissions

Just launched: Small Ponds $100 Challenge for Northeast Ohio. Participants receive a $100 microgrant to complete a project that benefits their community, Small Ponds is specifically looking to fund grassroots greenspace projects. Individuals are welcome to apply and decisions take 7-14 days. You can learn more here.


Upcoming events and opportunities

  • Pollinator Power Workshop, Sat. July 11th, 9am-11am: Join Ka-La Healing Garden Center during GardenWalk Cleveland and learn how to create and maintain spaces in your farm and gardens that support pollinators like bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Reserve a spot here.

  • Glenville Community Clean-up, Weds. July 15th, 10am-1pm: Join WRLC, Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District, and Famicos for a community litter pick-up and beautification event. Lunch provided. More info and RSVP attached here.

  • Chateau Hough Stewardship, Saturday / Tuesdays in July, 8am-11am:

    Join the broader team to care for the vines as they grow and produce grapes. You will learn a thing or two about grape growing and wine production along the way through interacting with seasoned growers! Call or text 216-438-0964.

  • Slavic Village Parks Meeting, Every 3rd Friday, 8:30am-9:30am: Are you a Slavic Village resident? Join Slavic Village Development for their monthly community parks and garden advocacy meeting to discuss your work, opportunities, and updates. Email Krystal Sierra to learn more.

  • Food Strong Care-A-Van, Tues. July 28th, 2pm-4pm: Visit the Superior Farm in St Clair-Superior for a community wellness experience with live music, local food products, community resources, health screenings, fitness classes, arts + crafts, and more! More info here.

  • Impett Park Green Ups, Sundays, 9am-11am: Join Friends of Impett Park for their weekly green-ups in the park. Assist with pruning, trimming, weeding, litter removal, and more. Visit their Facebook page for more information.

  • Collinwood Park Advocate Night, Weds. Aug 5th, 5:30pm-7:30pm: Learn about the resident-led park advocacy work happening in Collinwood, and engage with fellow community leaders over dinner. RSVP here.

  • Neighbor Nights, All month, various dates/locations: Join Neighborhood Connections for Neighbor Nights—spaces for neighbors and changemakers to connect, collaborate, and brig ideas to life. Learn more on their website.
