EPA awards TPL and Syatt $3,000,000
to support Cleveland Parks & Greenspace Coalition
Funded through the EPA Community Change Grants Program, this award “will center community residents in the development of the new Parks and Recreation Department and implementation of the city-wide parks and greenspace comprehensive plan. The equity-driven, environmental, and climate justice community work in this award will encourage two-way communication between the City and residents, becoming a watershed event for a more resilient Cleveland,” said Sean Terry, Ohio State Director at Trust for Public Land.

Survey coming soon for a resident Parks + Rec Advisory Committee in the new Department
One of the Coalition’s platform goals was the creation of a resident park advisory committee to advise on parks and recreation development at the City of Cleveland, and Mayor Bibb committed to this in our 2021 mayoral forum.
The steering committee is beginning to develop a model, but we need your ideas! If you’re a Cleveland resident interested in providing feedback to help build this model, click below:
Re-cap: July Park Advocate Night + Volunteer Day!
Around 40 Cleveland advocates came out to our Park Advocate Night and Park Volunteer Day last week! On Wednesday, Coalition members offered feedback to help develop a brand new city policy for park use and improvements.
On Saturday, Coalition members did trash pick-up and weeding in Roberto Clemente Park and BARRiO BOY Community Garden. Many thanks to all who made it!

Cleveland Climate Action Survey, due August 9th, 11:59pm: As a part of the effort to update its Climate Action Plan, the City of Cleveland is conducting a survey to gather input from people who live and work in the city. Your feedback will be essential to shaping the plan that charts how Cleveland will achieve net zero emissions of climate pollution by 2050. Click here to take the survey.
[Funding] Neighbor Up Action Grants, due August 12th 11:59pm: Apply for for grant of $500-$5,000 for your project that supports Arts & Culture, Neighboring, or Seniors/Intergenerational, click here to learn more and apply.
Bringing Nature Home: Presentation & Native Plant Giveaway, Tuesday, August 20th, 6pm-7:30pm: Learn about the purpose and benefits of native plants and how to design, install, and maintain your own native wildflower garden. Register here.
Impett Park Green Ups, Sundays, 9am-11am: Join Friends of Impett Park next Sunday to help them clean up and improve Impett Park. Work can include litter pick up, mulching, planting, and more! Register here.
